Artist Statement

This painting was used as the poster for the exhibition “Trauma,” an art program I facilitated.
I am an artist. Through my work as a facilitator for a trauma-informed care art program at a hospital, I have met many patients and healthcare professionals.
I painted this picture with the theme of “Trauma.” It is a painting that objectively captures trauma, yet it is also a painting of my own trauma. This is the cry of the birth of life.

Beyond the dark, labyrinthine corridor where many colors overlap, there is a pure light that shines for everyone. This "Torch" is like a warm flame that, though delicate and small, never goes out — it is the place to which we ourselves return. Perhaps this is what we call the “soul” or “prayer.”
